Trip Buck, also known as Chester Buckenmaier III, MD, is a retired Army Colonel and anesthesiologist who has had a prolific career in medical science publishing.

In September 2003, he was deployed with the 21st Combat Support Hospital to Balad, Iraq, where he demonstrated that advanced regional anesthesia could be effectively used in a forward-deployed environment. He performed the first successful continuous peripheral nerve block for pain management in a combat support hospital. In April 2009, he deployed with the British military to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, where he organized the first acute pain service in a theater of war.

When he is not sailing, Trip is venturing into the realm of science fiction writing. His storytelling is heavily influenced by his experiences as an Army officer, his family—consisting of his wife and three daughters—and his passion for sailing. Additionally, Trip publishes a monthly editorial with USMedicine.com.
