Spark and His Screenagains
Description
Ah! Life through the eyes of the family dog! Spark is a dog with a family of humans. But his humans are always on their screens, again and again! So, Spark calls his humans screenagains. Spark will take you on a tour of his house so you can see for yourself how his humans don't pay attention to him since they began spending so much time on their smartphones, televisions, video games and laptops. Poor Spark! He just wants to play and connect with his humans. Well, Spark is a smart dog and he figures out a way to get his humans to look up from their screens and join him outside. This story was conceived by author and children's therapist Dr. Mary Affee born out of a concern for how much time people - and especially children and parents - are spending on their screens instead of connecting with one another and playing outdoors. Dr. Affee invited author and therapist Lynn Louise Wonders to bring her children's book creation skills to the table and help develop the story and get this book out into the world. It is the authors' hope that this endearing story will inspire child and family therapists, teachers, and parents to start conversations about the importance of face to face interactions, in-person-human connections and playful time out in nature in lieu of so much time spent on technology.
